Child and Adolescent | Bullying

Bullying is a significant problem for many children, adolescents. Many children will be involved in bullying at some point during their school years, either as a perpetrator, a target, a witness, or some combination of roles.

  • Physical bullying: include punching, taking other children possessions, or damaging their property.
  • Electronic bullying: includes any form of bullying that occurs online, over the phone, or via video games
  • Verbal bullying: include exclusionary tactics, name calling, and threats.
  • Relational bullying: may include spreading rumors and exclusion from a group.

Bullying can dramatically lower the self-esteem of the children. When it occurs in childhood, it may interfere with the development of social skills and normal relationships.
